Couples looking to plan the perfect wedding may find everything they need close to home and under one roof. The Chamber and Development Council of Crawford County’s (CDC) Western Iowa Bridal Showcase will be Sunday, February 24 beginning at 1 p.m. at the Boulders Conference Center. Rachel Desy, CDC office manager, stated this year’s bridal show, at more than 30 vendors, could be the biggest yet.
“This is the most vendors we’ve ever had,” Desy said.
When planning the showcase, Desy explained CDC members wanted the vendor booths to be sold out well in advance of the show. Much to the CDC’s delight, the vendor slots were full more than a month ago and five vendors are on a waiting list should a spot open up. New vendors this year were selected to not only display a product but also provide an interactive experience.
Two vendors will feature customized invitations where the company’s representative will consult the bride and groom-to-be on an invitation design that best fits the couple’s wishes.
“We discussed what vendor will be helpful that hasn’t been there in year’s past,” Desy said. “We decided we wanted someone to sit with the bride and groom to develop their invitations.”
Decoration companies have agreed to advertise their craft by decorating the entry way and the registration table. Other vendors present include caterers, dressmakers, deejays, photographers and more.
Desy commented that this year’s event was designed to deviate from an average showcase where vendors hand out businesses cards and an ink pen. Guests will be treated to a candy buffet, a free five-minute massage and a chance to win prizes such as a $1,000 voucher for a wedding gown.
Each vendor will also offering a chance to win a promotional gift valued between $30 and $100.
“We wanted to make is so the brides, the bridesmaids and families could have an experience and make it more of an enjoyable day,” she said.
Soon to be brides will have the opportunity to view the styles and colors of modern wedding gowns as well as bridesmaid dresses, tuxedos for the groom and outfits for the ring bearer and flower girl.
Fifteen models will style 30 different bridal gowns ranging from a tradition style to a laid back, destination-wedding design.
The runway show was also designed with relaxation in mind as guests will be treated to a complimentary mimosa or punch beverage.
A press release issued by the CDC stated nearly 60 brides registered during last year’s event. CDC Executive Director Evan Blakley explained he expected that number to increase.
Tickets for the event are $5 and are available at the CDC office, 18 South Main Street, or at the door the day of the event. Desy explained the CDC will be raffling free tickets off for those who “like” its Facebook page. The show begins at 1 p.m. and will conclude at 4 p.m.
