Stop by the Donna Reed Theater in uptown Denison this Friday and take a step back to cinematic history.
The Donna Reed Foundation, along with the Chamber & Development Council (CDC) of Crawford County, will host the second installment of First Friday Films.
The film series was designed to bring classic films to the big screen of the historic Donna Reed Theater.
This month’s feature will be Steven Spielberg’s 1982 Oscar winning film, E.T. the Extraterrestrial.
Kristian Day, marketing director for the Donna Reed Foundation, said the film series provides a way to fundraiser for the foundation but also allows a unique and innovative way to utilize the facility.
CDC executive director Evan Blakley said the event will not only generate traffic to the theater but may also encourage moviegoers to stop in to area stores and restaurants.
Due to the cost of purchasing the rights to screen the titles, local businesses have agreed to take turns sponsoring the monthly showings.
Hy-Vee will sponsor September’s installment.
The screening begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $5 each.
