St. Patrick’s Day Parade Scheduled for Saturday, March 15
(Denison, IA) – The Chamber and Development Council of Crawford County (CDC) has announced plans for the Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Denison. The parade will be held on Saturday, March 15th at 1:00 p.m. in Uptown Denison. This will mark the 24th consecutive year for the parade, one of the longest running St. Patrick’s Day parades in the state of Iowa.
“One of the great things about our St. Patrick’s Day Parade is that no entry forms are required. Anyone can participate,” said Evan Blakley, Executive Director of the Chamber and Development Council.
“We’ll line up for the parade beginning at 12:30 p.m. in front of the Post Office on 1st Avenue North. The parade route will begin at the Post Office on 1st Avenue North, continue one block south on Main Street to Broadway, then proceed east on Broadway to 16th Street.
Blakley also noted the parade is in need of nominations for Grand Marshal and Irish Mother, a long-standing tradition. Brian O’Neill, owner of O’Neill Plumbing & Drain Cleaning, is the chair of the committee that helps make the annual selection. Blakley said that nominations can be made to Brian O’Neill by calling 712-269-1771 or emailing email@example.com.
“Over the past few years the number of floats and people in the parade has continued to grow,” stated Blakley. “Last year there were more than 100 entries, and we’re hoping for an even bigger parade this year”, he added.
