What is the function of the Chamber and Development Council?
The purpose of this organization is to maintain, enhance and grow the economic viability of the Crawford County Communities. CDC is committed to serving all citizens of the county, interfacing with various groups, business and governmental agencies to maintain and expand our economic base.Link to More Information
What kinds of information does the Chamber and Development Council provide?
We have several brochures on different attractions and businesses in Crawford County which are free of charge to the public. We also carry free maps of all 50 states and some attractions from surrounding areas. You may also pick up free phone books at the Chamber and Development Council office.Link to More Information

Membership provides you with resources and tools that will help your individual business grow. Business Contacts: The CDC will help you reach other members and community leaders through- Ambassador Calls, Business After-Hours, Annual Banquet and Meeting, Golf Tournaments, Women in Business Luncheon and the Teachers Welcome. Publicity: Your membership provides you the opportunity to get your business’s name before the public with the CDC Update Newsletter, Advertising opportunities in the CDC Update, Referrals, Membership plaques and our Bulk Mailing Permit is available for your use. Business Support: Membership and Business Directories, Organizational Listings, Seminars and Workshops, Professional Office Staff and the CDC Website. What types of assistance is available for businesses?
Both technical assistance and direct financial assistance are available, depending upon the type of business. Under most circumstances only technical assistance is available to those starting retail businesses. Technical assistance can take many forms including assistance with business plans and financial projections, procuring tax and other types of business permits, and advising business owners on the availability of buildings and land for development.
While the CDC does not provide direct financial assistance for businesses, our staff can assist in providing information and assistance forms from the Iowa Department of Economic Development.
