WESCO Industries has empowered and supported people in healthy communities across western Iowa since 1966. From its main office in Denison, WESCO provides residential services, day habilitation and adult day services through NOVA and the WAVE, employment services, respite, transitional living at Stepping Stones, Next Step Living, and Aging in Place support for seniors. WESCO also runs the Bake Shop & Café and the Back 30 Event Center, where members build skills and earn paychecks. About 200 members and 150 staff strong, WESCO helps people of all abilities live, work, and celebrate in the communities they call home.

WESCO serves western Iowa from Denison, with programs in Denison, Carroll, Ida Grove, Holstein, and Harlan. Most members and families come from Crawford and Carroll counties and the surrounding area. Aging in Place serves Denison only. Services are provided in WESCO homes and program sites and in members' own homes, not delivered to the general public.

History

Founded in 1966

WESCO Industries was founded in 1966 in Denison, Iowa, on a simple conviction: people of all abilities belong in the heart of their community, not at its edges. What began as local support for people with disabilities has grown over 60 years into a full circle of services: homes, day programs, jobs, respite, recovery support at Stepping Stones, independent living through Next Step Living, and help for seniors who want to stay in their own homes through Aging in Place. Today WESCO serves about 200 members with about 150 staff across western Iowa, and runs the Bake Shop & Café and the Back 30 Event Center in Denison. Sixty years on, the mission is unchanged: empowering and supporting people in healthy communities.
